We are a group made up of families and friends of seniors in the Comox Valley who believe that those who live in a seniors' facility need to have a good quality of life. Our concern and formation was sparked by issues and incidents we observed within seniors' facilities in the Comox Valley that had a negative impact on the lives of the residents. SOS is non-partisan, we welcome anyone with concerns about seniors' care in the Comox Valley, and we advocate at the individual, group, and community level. We have an average of twenty people coming to our monthly meetings and many more on our email list. Our focus is to observe and record problems within seniors' facilities and then bring our concerns to the attention of management, authorities, and anyone else who may have the authority or ability to affect change or influence procedures within that facility. A key way in which we approach this objective is with a letter-writing campaign; more information on this campaign can be found by selecting the page from the menu on the left.
SOS meets at 7PM on the first Tuesday of each month, except for July and August. Anyone with concerns about seniors' living conditions is welcome to attend.
